Solid vs Engineered
What is the difference between a solid hardwood and an engineered hardwood? People always come in and say that engineered wood is not hardwood. We are here to tell you that it is more like solid than some think.

Solid Hardwood: As the name states, solid hardwood is one solid piece of wood. It can be sanded and refinished at least three times, down to the tongue and groove. One con to having solid hardwood is that it expands and contracts. Depending on where you live and the humidity level in your home, the planks can move, causing small, micro gaps.

Engineered Hardwood: Engineered hardwood is slightly different than solid wood; instead of being one solid piece of wood, there is a top coat of wood with cross pieces of plywood undernearth. With this type of wood, you cannot sand and refinish it. However, you can install this a few different ways as well as little to no expansion and contraction.
